Employment / Making it Work

Making it Work was a five-year project (2017–2022), funded by City Bridge Trust, which aimed to improve young Disabled people’s chances of finding employment and to remove barriers in the workplace.

Inclusion London worked in partnership with several Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations (DDPOs) across London. We aimed to build DDPOs’ capacity to deliver employment support, using rights-based and social model approaches. We wanted to challenge old ideas about Disabled people and employment, test new models and support changes to policy and practice.

We have developed a set of employment-related resources for DDPOs, Disabled people and employers. Please make use of these with Disabled people seeking work, to develop your own funding proposals and to provide employment-related services. They cover these areas: Visioning future employment support for Disabled people, Peer Support, Zoom and internet safety, Employment rights and discrimination, Employment support and more information about the Making it Work project.

We would like to thank all the DDPOs and other organisations who have worked with us and especially the many young Disabled people who have engaged with Making it Work over the last five years.

We would also like to thank City Bridge Trust and Arts Council England for providing funding for this project.
