Social investment is not a grant but a loan or investment provided to enable your organisation to generate more income or be more effective. Social investment funds are generally open to trading voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.

Big Issue Invest The Power Up London Accelerator Programme

The Power Up London accelerator programme provides 4 months intensive non-financial support to early stage organisations (registered for less than 5 years and with under £500K income) wishing to develop or grow their trading income. Support including mentoring, business support, training and networking opportunities along with the possibility of £22,000 in grant funding at the end.

Priority given to organisations working with marginalised communities (include Disabled people), and led by people with direct experiences of the issues they are seeking to support

Loan finance from £20k-£400K for social impact organisations wanting to grow, diversity or buy new assets. Loans come with up to 20% grants. Interest rate between 7.5-8.5% with repayments across 1-8 years. Potential for investment readiness grant of up to 15K

Organisations must be working on social problems, must serve beneficiaries in Greater London, be a charity or CIC, have operated for at least one year, have funding in place for one year of operation, have at least one full time or two part time staff members, is seeking to develop a revenue generating activity with a view of taking on social investment in the future

Capacity building grants for charitable organisations: to provide organisations with human, financial and strategic support as well as supporting access to appropriate expert intermediaries to enhance their overall performance skills to meet their mission, deliver their outcomes and thereby enhancing their investment readiness and long term financial stability.

Grants to pilot better outcomes: to support organisations wishing to pilot new ways of creating improved social outcomes in a specific sector, geography or outcome area; test out new ideas, new business models, new partnerships and ways of working as well as alternative ways of measuring complex outcomes. The pilot should lead the organisation to using social investment for expansion or further development.

No minimums. Maximum grant £50,000 (but we will not fund more than 50% of your total revenue income)

 

Community Investment Fund and Third Sector Loan Fund www.socialandsustainable.com

Provide investment of £250,000 to £3 million in the form of loans, participation loans and equity. Interested in locally led organisations which are providing essential support and services to improve the well-being of local residents, developing the local economy and creating positive social change for all individuals in the community. The Fund aims to improve the quality of life of local individuals, particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, and to enhance community engagement and cohesion by empowering people to develop locally-determined solutions to challenges and opportunities.

 

Nesta Impact Investments

Investments of £150K-£1 million over a 4-8 year period in early stage ventures with strong business models. Priorities relevant to DDPOs are: ageing well (quality of life and participation in older people) and children and young people’s wellbeing (physical and mental wellbeing, positive contribution and employment readiness).
