Those of us in the disability sector who adopt a social model of disability approach to disability often struggle with discussing impairment – partly because some feel that it is betraying the social model to do so, but it is also a reaction to the dominance of the impairment narrative in society particularly by charities and the media. If you have experienced poor care, or know that poor care is being provided somewhere you can report it to the CQC, anonymously if you wish. You can also tell them when you feel you have received good care. The information will help improve the overall quality of care in England, and help prevent poor care and abuse happening to others in the future.
In March we were in Geneva with ROFA to give evidence at the UN, presenting our Shadow Report, which documents how British Government policies since 2010 have created regression against nearly every article under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
