We are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join Merton Centre for Independent Living’s (Merton CIL) team!

About the role

This newly created role supports our strategic aims to promote independence and inclusion, identify and challenge discrimination and work with Deaf and Disabled people to achieve change locally. This role is key to ensuring that the organisation runs smoothly and achieves its aims.

What we offer:

Salary of £25,700-£30,000 pro rata per annum dependent on skills and experience.
Annual incremental salary increase, dependent upon funding.
Working hours – 28 hours per week. Flexibility around how these hours are spread over a week.
Fixed term contract until 30 March 2025 with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding.
Hybrid working – 50% of working hours from home and 50% in the office to allow for community, collaboration, and support.
Pension with employer contribution.
33 days annual leave (pro rata for part time employees).

The Communications & Admin Officer Role will focus on:

Administrative tasks

Monitoring of the info@ mailbox ensuring that all relevant enquiries are recorded on our database and dealt with in a timely manner.
Supporting with the management of Merton CILs general enquiries telephone line. – welcoming, assisting and directing callers and visitors and recording all relevant information on our database.
Providing administrative support to the Senior Management Team and on occasion Board of Trustees.
Supporting with financial administration including filing invoices, petty cash management and purchase order systems.
Providing support to volunteers and recording all volunteer contact on our database.
Supporting implementation of our Data Protection and Health and Safety policy.
Supporting with general administrative duties including taking and typing up minutes where required.
General office management support such as post, monitoring and maintaining stationery supplies, checking prices, checking off deliveries etc.
Communications & Marketing

Supporting with the implementation of Merton CIL’s communications strategy.
Supporting with the management of all social media channels and scheduling of content.
Leading on the creation of informative and accessible content for all Merton CIL projects in line with our house style.
Supporting with the management and development of the Merton CIL website. Including writing copy, search engine optimisation, improving user journeys, accessibility and uploading content.
Creation and distribution of external email newsletters via Mailchimp.
Supporting with the development of internal communications tools and procedure
Supporting with the planning, delivery, evaluation and recording of events including Craftivism & Chat.
Developing Merton CIL’s membership offering including engagement methods.
Maintaining and updating membership records inline with GDPR.
Leading on the marketing and promotion of the organisation and its work.
Supporting with monitoring and evaluation including the development of the annual impact report and collating data to improve service user and staff outcomes.
