Charging – a tax on disability

Campaigns meeting for DDPOs – 26 April 2018; 2 – 5pm (sign in from 1.30pm)

Weare336 Brixton Road, London, SW9 7AA

A number of members have asked that we organise a pan-London campaigns meeting on the issue of charging. Over the past few years we have borough after borough adopting harsher charging policies, making social care support unaffordable for many and adding to the cumulative burden of cuts being experienced by Disabled Londoners. The example of Hammersmith and Fulham council who abolished home care charging altogether as a commitment to their Disabled residents shows that there are other choices that can be made even austerity.

This meeting will be a chance for campaigners against charging to share their experiences of what hasn’t and hasn’t worked, find out more from a legal perspective and explore how we can better co-ordinate our campaigning across London and nationally.
