The next public examination of the government under the Convention of the Rights of Disabled People (CRDP) is coming up. An important part of the examination process is for Deaf and Disabled people and our organisations to send evidence to the UN Disability Committee of what has happened in the UK since the last examination. We do this through a shadow report (also sometimes known as a parallel report).

From October 2021 until March 2022 a range of activities will be taking place across the country so that Deaf and Disabled people can get involved in the shadow reporting process. Find out how you can get involved below.

This work is being led by a partnership of Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations. Inclusion London is leading the initiative but the networks involved stretch across all regions of England. These include the Reclaiming Our Futures Alliance, the DPO Forum, Disability Rights UK Our Voices and Disabled People Against Cuts. the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights and the London School of Economics will also be represented on the Steering Group overseeing the work.

On a UK wide level, we will work closely with partner DDPOs in the devolved administrations commissioned by their respective human rights watchdogs to produce shadow reports for their nations.
