Open to all staff and volunteers who deliver advice in a DDPO. An opportunity to learn and feedback on the proposed government policy in relation to welfare benefits and social care.
Tuesday 5th October, 2pm – 4.30pm, via Zoom
Who can attend
The Peer Network Meeting is open to all staff and volunteers who deliver advice within a DDPO.
Delivered by: Svetlana Kotova and Jon Abrams, Inclusion London
This peer network meeting for advice and advocacy workers from DDPOs will be an opportunity to learn and feedback on the proposed government policy in relation to welfare benefits and social care.
Over the summer the government has published a range of new policy proposals and consultations, including the Consultation into the Shaping Future Support: Health and Disability Benefits Green Paper, which will have a huge impact on the lives of Disabled people and on our work.
We will give you a brief overview of the announcements and will spend time discussing your views and feedback, which we will use in our responses to consultations.
Themes for discussion will include
- How the DWP can help people navigate the system: what are the key problem points coming from your work and what can be done to fix them?
- What can be done to improve assessments: What are key problems with assessments coming from your case work?
- The DWP is floating ideas for major changes to the benefits system, especially extra costs benefits. If you could make big changes/improvements to the system, what would they be?
