DDPOs and key funders explore how to make the most of the interest in “lived experience”
What this series of events is about
We know that DDPOs face challenges in developing new services and in finding stable long term funding sources to continue or scale up existing successful services.
We are providing a series of events this year to bring DDPOs together to explore challenges and solutions, enable more effective relationships with potential funders, and ensure that follow up support we offer to individual organisations is designed to meet your needs.
Each event will concentrate on a different service or funding issue which we know are current priorities including:
- hate crime services
- “lived experience” leadership
- advice services
Before each event we will be sending out a survey to understand what challenges you face in developing and funding services. These will be used to design the events and follow up support we offer to individual organisations.
What is this event about
We are seeing an increasing interest by funders and researchers in the value of “lived experience” leadership in driving social change. Ironically, at the same time many organisations led directly by Deaf and Disabled people are struggling for survival, and increasing numbers are closing. This event will bring DDPOs and some key funders together to explore how DDPOs make the most of this interest in “lived experience”, how we can make sure our expertise in this area influences the conversation about “lived experience”, and how we more effectively gain attention and investment in our sector.
Who is the workshop for
This workshop is for DDPO CEOs or Chairs who are interested in influencing the conversation about “lived experience”. Places are limited so we are currently restricting places to 1 person per organisation
Who will the workshop be facilitated by
The workshop will be facilitated by Alex Hendra who has been providing business and finance development support to DDPOs for the last 6 years and has 17 years’ experience in leadership and senior management roles in the charity sector.
