Casework Management – the importance of File Review

Wednesday 13th July, 10am to 1.30pm (inc 2 x 15-minute breaks), via Zoom

Maximum 12 places, these will initially be offered to people who are part of the Strengthening Voices Realising Rights (SVRR) project.

File Reviews are an essential part of casework management and supervision in any advice service.

Who is the course for?

You may already have some experience of carrying out file reviews but need a refresher or you may be moving in to a supervisory role and want to find out more about what is involved.

Your organisation may already have the AQS, be working towards it, or you may just want to ensure your advice service adopts this this approach to make sure standards are maintained and technical supervision takes place.

The training will cover:

  • What are File Reviews and why are they important?
  • How File Reviews feed back into the supervision process. i.e. identifying if an adviser needs further support or training, what corrective action needs to be taken
  • How to offer constructive feedback to your advisers
  • Discussions of how records of File Reviews are kept, monitored and fed back
  • Case file exercise – looking at sample case files and noting errors/problems
  • Looking at sample file review checklists
  • If you are applying or renewing the AQS, a brief look at in person and remote audits
  • How having a File Review system in place builds in succession in your organisation if staff move on
  • Time for your questions and comments

We will send you all course materials in advance including the AQS framework section E which deals with the File Review process. Please read through section E before you join the course.

Course delivered by:
