Into Sport

Into Sport was a unique project managed by Inclusion London and funded by Sport England, designed to increase the skills and capacity of DDPOs to support Disabled people to take up sport and physical activity.

The Into Sport project aimed to increase the number of Deaf and Disabled Londoners participating in sport and physical activity by building the capacity of Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations (DDPOs) and removing barriers to participation. It ran from 2014 – 2018 and was funded by Sport England. The project was managed by Inclusion London, working in partnership with five Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations in Lambeth, Greenwich, Barnet, Richmond and Southwark. London Sport provided sports advice. During the project we supported 1170 Deaf and Disabled people to get active.

Getting Into Sport and Physical Activity: In Our Own Words’ is a short film we produced to share some of the participants’ stories:

We also produced a range of resources to support DDPOs to get sport and physical activity onto their agendas, as well as to support mainstream providers of sports and physical activities to become more accessible and responsive to the needs of Deaf and Disabled people.
