We are seeking a passionate and committed person to join Merton Centre for Independent Living as a Disability Hate Crime Caseworker. Merton CIL is a values-based, user-led charity which supports Deaf and Disabled People in the London Borough of Merton to live independently, challenge discrimination and achieve change locally.

Disability Hate Crime is on the increase so this is a crucial role to support victims across Merton. These are often complex and sensitive cases so some experience in providing dedicated advocacy support to high-risk individuals is preferred as well as supporting outreach programmes. The purpose of the role is to lead a programme of preventative and supportive work around Disability Hate Crime (DHC), ensuring that Deaf and Disabled people in Merton report DHC and are supported to address issues resulting from this crime.

Merton CIL is committed to equality, diversity and reflecting the communities we serve. We particularly welcome applications from Deaf or Disabled people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. People who live with a long-term health condition who may not consider themselves as Disabled are also particularly welcomed.
