Direct Payments Support Service
Could you be the co-ordinator we are looking for to join our team (in Bromley or Whitechapel)?
Part-time 20 hours – £21,164 pro rata (£11/hour)

deafPLUS is a charity which supports integration and equality between D/deaf and hearing people in all areas of life. We provide a range of services such as advocacy, employment, equipment, information and advice across 7 centres around the UK, as well as a national adviceline service.
This exciting job opportunity has arisen – the role of Independent Living Coordinator within our Personal Assistant service, Youchoose.
This role focuses on the delivery of deafPLUS’ direct payments support service. This is a scheme which enables people to receive funds from the council to pay for their personal care and support, of which they would have been assessed and awarded funds to meet these needs. This scheme is about providing support for individuals with personal direct payments and enable them to manage their choices and decisions for services they require and want.
The independent living coordinator role will be responsible for the following tasks, line-managing personal assistants, account management, delivering support, information, and advice This role is providing support to empower people with a sensory disability to access and manage their personal direct payments as independently as possible.
The post-holder will work as part of a team to promote, extend and develop the scheme to enable more people to have personal budgets and self-direct their support.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the health and social care sector, particularly in relation to individualised budgets. Essential skills required for this post are good communication, excellent literacy, numeracy, IT and presentation skills.
Knowledge of the direct payments scheme will be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
Employment benefits include 25 days (pro rata) annual leave, 8 Bank holidays (pro rata) and paid festive closures in December. Opportunities for training and professional development to become a registered manager will be provided. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
