dasl are looking for volunteers for our Advice Service

We are looking for two Information and Advice Volunteers and two Welfare Rights Volunteers to provide information, advice and guidance to Disabled people living in Lambeth.

The volunteers will be based within dasl’s Advice Service to respond to enquiries made by Disabled people, their families, carers or professionals via the enquiry line telephone line or by email, including enquiries regarding ESA and PIP claims, renewals and appeals.

Volunteers will arrange one-to-one appointments to provide more specific advice and information, and to support to complete forms related to their enquiry.

Information and Advice Volunteers will provide information in response to enquiries made on the enquiry line and email, including but not limited to: emergency support scheme applications, welfare grants, food banks, applications for disability transport, utilities discounts and grants.

Welfare Rights Volunteers will provide support to Disabled people to make an initial claim, or to renew their claim, for ESA or PIP; support Disabled people at health assessments and assist the Senior Advice Worker with the administration of Mandatory Reconsideration and appeals.

All Volunteers will be expected to work to dasl’s policies and procedures, including Information Governance, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities. Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend staff/team meetings and training sessions as required. Volunteers will also be supported with regular review meetings.

We are looking for people with:

• Good computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office;
• A clear and confident telephone manner;
• Reliable;
• Good standard of English, both written and verbal;
• Interested in working with people from different backgrounds.
