About this organisation
We are a self – advocacy group run by and for people with learning disabilities. Self – advocacy is about speaking up for yourself and others, taking control and making your own decisions.
Our aim is to improve services and access for people with LD. Campaign on real issues faced by people with LD. We want to be included in important decisions that affect our lives. We raise awareness of the needs of people with LD: in employment, education, training, housing and health.
There are 4 main areas that the group are involved in: 1. Campaigning on issues that are important to us like access to health and transport services as well as learning disability hate crime. 2. Training and workshops – we attend workshops to learn more, and train others about our rights and needs. 3. Fundraising events and activities to support the work that Safety Net – People First do. 4. Club nights which are organised by and run by members of the group.
