Disability hate crime

The Mayor has proposed changes to the way the public contacts the police to report crimes in the future. Inclusion London’s main concern regarding all the proposals is that they are accessible to Deaf and Disabled people. This is outlined in our response.

Inclusion London responded to the consultation on the Mayor’s draft Policing and Crime plan 2017–2021. We call on Mayor Sadiq Khan to ensure that disability hate crime is given additional status to ensure it is treated equally with other hate crime strands.

The Disability Hate Crime Network is a group of UK disabled people, Disabled people’s organisations and a range of other organisations including Police and CPS representatives. They all work together to challenge hate crime against Disabled people.
