Jon Abrams, Promotion and Liaison Officer at One Place East said:

“This is a great success story. We have been campaigning for months trying to persuade Redbridge Council to invest in Changing Places toilets.  We attended council meetings, and campaigned on social media. We also worked with the Ilford Recorder to promote stories about the lack of accessible and suitable facilities in Ilford and the impact this has on the day-to-day experiences of Disabled people.”

A feature in the local paper including a testimony from someone personally affected by the lack of facilities contributed to the Council’s decision to find funds to invest in the toilet and meet the campaigners’ demand: http://www.ilfordrecorder.co.uk/news/politics/redbridge-disabled-facilities-branded-inhumane-as-borough-has-no-specialist-changing-places-toilet-1-5250513
